Miss Miami: Betty Padgett’s Debut Album Reissued

Words by URB.Com: Betty Padgett’s 1975 self-titled debut was recorded in one evening at Criteria Studios in Miami. Though it’s only nine-songs deep, it contains a nice riddim rendition of the The Four Seasons’ “My Eyes Adore You” and “Sugar Daddy”, Padgett’s lone, semi-known hit featured in Pepsi commercials in the ’70s. Padgett started her career out of highschool, and went on to perform with legends like The Impressions, Joe Tex, K.C. & The Sunshine Band, and Bobby Bland. She continues to record and perform in and around Florida to this day. Her lost debut album, Betty Padgett, will be out on Ubiquity on 4/17/09. Below are two memorable tracks from the album, “My Eyes Adore You” and “Sugar Daddy”. Enjoy!
