Black Friday comes in style with the release of Clark Kent’s latest designed Air Force 1’s
Celebrities like DJ Khaled and Wendy Williams stopped through for the incredible event.
Things have calmed down a little since the epic Clark Kent and Nike Collabo sneaker called the Black Friday Air Force 1’s were released last week on the day after Thanksgiving. The big catch about them was that nobody had any clue what they looked like until the day of the release. Only 3 stores in the U.S. received them and Shoe Gallery in Miami was one of them. Clark Kent made a day-long event out of the release.
He started the day off by officially unveiling the sneakers at the NSW store in New York at 4am – then flew to Boston to release them at Concepts at 10am and then again flew to Miami to release them at Shoe Gallery at 8pm. We were there to cover Shoe Gallery’s “Black Carpet” event in full force. That’s right, Shoe Gallery did away with the traditional Red Carpet and made it a Black Carpet affair. Attendees included Clark Kent, the Shoe Gallery team, Mi Gente Clothing, NiceKicks.Com founder Matt Halfhill, DJ Khaled, Wendy Williams, E. Class and more.
The line outside of Shoe Gallery was immense. People came as far as Atlanta and Chicago to get their shot at owning a pair. The first person in line (named Oscar) was camping out for an entire 5 days before the release. He actually spent his entire Thanksgiving Day in front of Shoe Gallery camping out for these sneakers. If that’s not dedication, I don’t know what is. One of the biggest highlights of the night came when Clark Kent paid for Oscar’s pair out of his own pockets. Overall, it was a great night and we have to commend Shoe Gallery, Clark Kent, Mi Gente Clothing and of course, Nike, for once again working together to create a great creative atmosphere for yet another sneaker release. And more than anything, for keeping the sneaker culture alive and exciting.
