Once upon a time in like 1999 or 2000 or so, there was this little shop called Crazy Goods off SW 40th Street and 137th Avenue in West Kendall/Westchester area. It was literally “the” spot to pick up fresh gear and all the latest in hip hop mixtapes. But to others, it was also the spot where you could pick up some dope records from the Crazy Sounds record pool. I was like 13 or 14 at the time and I was in this record pool trying to get my DJ-career on, which didn’t really amount to anything. That career went downwards extremely quick (haha). But anyways, in one my first batches of records, I got this record called “Spanish Fly” by Crazy Hood affiliates (yes, the same people who ran the store Crazy Goods) and it was like a breath of fresh air to me. The latin-spiced beat by Big Drain, Heckler’s complimenting verses and Staxx’s unique flow all just seemed to come together to make a really different sounding song that was very dope in my opinion. And at one point, I was seeing this song pop up on mixtapes from all the major New York mixtape DJ’s. Well, I transfered it from record to mp3 for you guys to check it out for yourselves.
