Here’s one of the tracks from Lil’ Wayne’s The Carter III, which is out this Tuesday June 10th. Produced by Miami’s own Cool-N-Dre, “Phone Home” is probably one of the tracks most people will overlook because its a little left field.
To me personally, this track stood out because I got a chance to hear the original version of the track back in January of 2007 at Circle House Studios in North Miami. As hard as it is to believe, this version is a bit more commercial and mainstream sounding than the previous version. The original version sounded a lot more “Andre 3K” sounding with more of that “we are not the same, I am a Marshian” talk.
One thing that I can say for sure is that Cool N’ Dre’s production has grown over the last couple years and is good to see them be able to showcase a track that is more “instrumental” like and a little more different from the norm.
Note: Review of The Carter III coming on Tuesday! The 305 is represented all over the album!
